DDA Now Hiring An Event Coordinator

Come and join the excitement of working downtown! The Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is seeking a personable and energetic individual to take a lead role in planning the festivals and events in Downtown Iron Mountain. The Event Coordinator works closely with the Program Coordinator and the DDA Board of Directors to plan and execute  festivals and events including Brew Fest, Italian Fest, Oktoberfest, Out to Lunch, Girls Night Out, and more. This position is part-time (up to 29 hours per week) with flexible work schedule and some remote work options available. The DDA office is located at Iron Mountain City Hall.

Description:  The DDA Event Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and promoting our downtown events and collaborating with the Program Coordinator and the DDA Board of Directors on additional DDA duties.

Experience:  Applicants should have education and/or professional experience in one or more of the following areas: Event Planning, Volunteer Management, Marketing, Graphic Design, Nonprofit Fundraising, or Administrative Assisting.

The DDA Event Coordinator must be capable of fundraising, energetic, creative, well organized, capable of working independently or with a team, and serves as an advocate for Downtown Iron Mountain. Excellent leadership skills and communication skills are essential to this position.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

  • Being present at all DDA events
  • Coordinating all DDA events, including crucial weeks leading up to event, as well as day of coordination
  • Point of contact for event related inquiries
  • Lead and coordinate with event committee and DDA Board to receive sponsors for events
  • Scheduling and managing volunteers for each event
  • Coordinating and booking entertainment. food, beverage, and local vendors
  • Ordering maintenance items and festival equipment
  • Strategically budgeting and managing incoming and outgoing funds for the event
  • Distributing and selling festival tickets
  • Delegating tasks to volunteers, board members, and event committee members, as needed
  • Working with the DDA Program Coordinator to promote the events through local media, social media, and print media
  • Working with the DDA Program Coordinator to complete ordinances, requests, contracts, and licenses
  • Working with DDA Treasurer for general reporting, accounting, and processing payment requests and deposits.
  • Assisting with other DDA duties in collaboration with the DDA Program Coordinator and the DDA Board of Directors.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Compensation: $22-25 hour (depending upon qualifications), up to 29 hours a week
