NEWSLETTER - JULY 2025

Hello from the City of Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority (DDA). This is a monthly update on current DDA events and activities. We hope you find the Newsletter informative and that it helps you stay involved in all of the great things happening in Downtown Iron Mountain!

Summer Events Are Happening Every Week

There’s something for everyone in Downtown Iron Mountain this summer. The Farmers & Artisans Market happens every Saturday morning 8:00am to noon through October 11. The Out to Lunch summer concert series comes to the Downtown Stage every Thursday from 11:45am to 1:15pm with music and food. To top it all off, two major events are coming up too. Italian Fest is August 9 and Oktoberfest is September 27, both on Saturdays at the Downtown Stage. Find out more at downtownironmountain.com and follow us on Facebook to get all the updates as they become available.

Italian Fest Is Downtown on Saturday, August 9

Italian Fest is a local tradition in its 18th year in Iron Mountain! Come downtown for a day of fun, food, music, and festivities on Saturday August 9 from noon to 11:00pm. Admission is $10 and children 12 and under are free. The music line-up features Jan & Gino, Kind of Blues Band, and Oz The Band. The Children’s Area includes inflatable bounce house, slide, obstacle course, and toddler playland. Food vendors include Crispigna’s, Mama’s Mangia Mobile, and Flavor Blast. Also, there will be a performance by U.P. Dance Academy. Sponsorships are still available, so contact us if your business would like to contribute.

The Farmers & Artisans Market Is Bigger Than Ever

The Downtown Farmers & Artisans Market (FAM) attracts between 35 and 40 vendors on good weather days, an increase of roughly 25% from the previous season. July at the FAM brings a variety of fresh produce and you can also find fresh eggs, honey, maple syrup, and other farm-fresh, bakery, and homemade food items. Otherwise, there is always an abundance of local handmade arts and crafts. Check out the website for a complete listing of vendors for 2025. The FAM happens every Saturday morning through October 11 at the corner of A Street and Iron Mountain Street, across from the Dickinson County Library.

Out to Lunch Thursdays Through August 14

The Out to Lunch (OTL) FREE summer concert series returns every Thursday from 11:45 am to 1:15 pm at the Downtown Stage. Next up on the concert schedule is The Pink Violin Band on July 10, 141 North on July 17, Kind of Blues Band on July 24, and Mark Young & The Happy Enchiladas on July 31. Mama’s Mangia Mobile will join us for food on July 10, Crispigna’s Italian Market returns on July 17, followed by Curious Pig and Beck’s Cheesecakes on July 24, and Millie’s Market on July 31. Don’t miss the food and fun downtown on Thursdays!

Downtown Flowers Are In Full Bloom

Every year in May, the DDA staff and a group of awesome volunteers get together to prepare and plant 33 hanging baskets, 44 sidewalk planters, and 12 pocket gardens with colorful flowers all over Downtown Iron Mountain. This activity is supported entirely through generous donations from sponsors and individual contributors. Every small $10 or $20 donation helps too. Special recognition goes to RiZE as the Downtown Flowers Signature Sponsor and to Cloverleaf Conservatory as the consultant and provider of all plants used for the program.

Downtown Has 20 New Trees!

Thanks to BOSS Snowplow, The Toro Company’s Greenspace Enhancement Grant Program, and the Iron Mountain Department of Public Works (DPW), 20 dead and dying trees along A Street and Iron Mountain Street have now been replaced! The DDA received a generous grant from The Toro Company last fall for replacement of the trees, replacement of 30 hanging flower baskets, and new greenhouse equipment to keep Downtown Iron Mountain beautiful. This was an ambitious project, and the DPW stepped up in a big way with manpower and equipment to make it happen. There’s more to come next year with 10 more new trees and more hanging flower baskets.

Sponsorship Opportunities Available

Sponsorship opportunities are still available at a variety of levels for upcoming Italian Fest (August 9) and Oktoberfest (September 27) in Downtown Iron Mountain.

Italian Fest, now in its 18th year, is the largest downtown event and longest-standing tradition. It draws more than 1,200 attendees each year with live music, authentic Italian food, kids’ activities, and more—all celebrating the rich Italian heritage of the community. Oktoberfest, now in its 11th year, is downtown’s most unique event, featuring traditional German fare, music, beer, and games that bring family fun and a festive atmosphere to Iron Mountain each fall.

Sponsorship opportunities are available at a range of levels and offer great exposure for your business while supporting vibrant community events that bring people together downtown.

The Iron Mountain Downtown Development Authority (DDA) plans and conducts three major festivals and a series of smaller events every year in Downtown Iron Mountain. In total, these festivals and events bring some sort of activity to the Downtown area on 35 dates of every year. These are in addition to numerous other events conducted by various local organizations downtown every year.
