SMALL BUSINESS WEEK
Welcome to Downtown Iron Mountain’s 2nd Annual Small Business Week Celebration!
We’re excited to kick off our 2nd Annual Small Business Week Celebration in Downtown Iron Mountain. Our event joins the nationwide celebration led by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) during National Small Business Week. This week is all about recognizing the hardworking entrepreneurs, family-owned shops, service providers, other business owners and employees who are the heart and soul of our downtown community. See the DDA Business Directory with information on over 200 downtown Iron Mountain businesses.
Whether you’re a longtime resident or visiting for the first time, there’s never been a better time to discover what makes Downtown Iron Mountain thrive.
Let’s celebrate small business—together!

“Being part of downtown Iron Mountain means being part of something bigger than a business—it’s about community, connection, and trust. As the co-owners of Erickson Jewelers, Sherri and Randy Erickson take pride in creating a welcoming space where relationships are built and milestones are celebrated. Small Business Week is a reminder of how meaningful it is to serve and grow alongside the people who make this town so special.”

“Hi! I’m Samm with two m’s, and along with my hubby and fur babes, I own this lil shop called Mully & Mo’s. My husband, the man God planned for me, my epic Jane Austen-esque love, is a born and bred Chicagoan, and I’m a tried and true Yooper; I put ketchup on my hot dogs, and he does not. We met when I was teaching on the South Side of Chicago, but when we got married, we moved back home. Teaching jobs were scarce, and one day, my Mom said to me, “Why don’t you open up a shop?” and it’s been the adventure of a lifetime. I never imagined that almost 8 years later (where has the time gone?!) we would’ve expanded the shop multiple times, reshaped our entire business model, and grown as much as we have. We are proud to be a part of the Downtown community, and can’t wait to see where life takes us – for now, pop in for all your gifting, home decor, gourmet food, adorable baby clothes, and one-of-a-kind needs! We’ll be here for you when you do! “

“As the owner of Mully & Mo’s, I constantly thought up dreams of how I wanted to expand and grow…when Mr. Khoury (the owner of The Wishing Well – our corner shop predecessor) announced his retirement, I knew I had to take a leap of faith, and Shoppe Somewhere was born. After nearly 10 months of renovations, inventory sourcing, and quiet growth, we opened our doors in October of 2024, as a collective space that features a vintage soda shop vibe with old school candy, gourmet popcorns/food, kitschy souvenirs, trinkets, retro toys, art supplies, books, classic games and Michigan products, glass bottle soda pop, classes and events throughout the year and so much more. Stop by to experience Somewhere Creative…Somewhere Nostalgic…Somewhere Loved.”

We work to create a safe, welcoming space that brings families, students, and hobbyists together through shared experiences. Supporting our community isn’t just part of what we do—it’s the reason we opened our doors in the first place.”

“The Terrace has definitely become a downtown highlight for all of us. It is a great place to meet up and just chill. The venue itself promotes a relaxing pleasant atmosphere and then in the evening becomes a live music venue that continue to bring fun into the night. We specialize in craft cocktails but offer a full bar and local tap beer, so something for everyone.”

We are grateful to be the season sponsor again for the third year in a row and look forward to seeing you all soon! Besides our community involvement, we are passionate about the hearing healthcare we have provided and will continue to provide for individuals in the surrounding areas. “The newest service, luxury scalp spa sessions, is a huge hit! The downtown community has been very supportive of my small business as I learn and grow with it :). The scalp spa services provide a detoxifying treatment, transdermal scalp nutrition, and a stimulating scalp massage, all in one! This creates an optimal environment for healthy hair growth and a soothed scalp. Think of it as a relaxing version of a dental cleaning, but for your scalp! I am working on adjusting my availability to create sooner openings for the fast-growing demand in this service. Thank you to everyone in the community for all the support!”

“I started The Good Earth as an AVEDA lifestyle salon in 2013, with one stylist and myself. Over 11 years, we grew to be six stylists, an esthetician, and a full-time receptionist, and relocated to a historic building downtown in 2022. Owning a salon was always the dream, and continues to be. Serving the community for almost 12 years has been nothing short of fulfilling and wonderful, and we hope to be the area’s People’s Choice “Best Salon” for years to come.”

3– Small business support and retention is essential to downtown revitalization, so shopping local makes it happen.
4 – Small businesses employ about half of the private sector workforce in the United States and contribute more than half of all new job creation.
5 – Businesses with less than 500 employees comprise over 99% of all businesses in the United States and account for roughly 40% of gross domestic product (GDP).
6– All of these impacts on small businesses come from multiple sources of information and have been widely recognized for decades in the United States.
